Approach & Parking

There is a tarmac and gravel drive from the road to the farmhouse.  There are no marked bays but there is a Guest Parking sign. Parking is on a flat area adjacent to the house. You can stop right outside the front door to unload.

Level graveled surface to front door no steps.

There is plenty of outside lighting which is on until all guests are in for the night.

Entrance Hall

The front door opens onto the main hall with uneven old stone floor with large rugs. There is a bell pull for guests to summon attention if they need anything or in an emergency. Two small hall tables, with one lamp which is left on at all times.

Ground floor

There is a small study/dinning 12’ by 8’ room leading off the hall down a small step with large table and chairs, large mirror over fire place and crockery cabinet the room is fully carpeted. There is also and iron and ironing board for guests use in this room.

Through another door off the main hall and down another small step is the guest sitting room fully carpeted 15’ by 15’ with open log fire, TV with freesat, grandfather clock, chesterfield sofa, two armchairs, writing desk, lamp and chair, large book shelves with selection of books, side table with lamp, rug with coffee table.

Leading off the main hall is a straight run of carpeted quite steep stairs (16 x 8” high x 40” wide) to the first floor with baluster rail on both sides. Leading to large wide first floor landing with bench seat and upright chairs. Partly carpeted or with large original uneven floorboards with rugs. This area is well light, lights are left on until all guests have returned/arrived.

Honeymoon suite

Large double en suite room 18’ by18’ with high double antique brass bed with canopy above bed, side tables both with lamps and one radio alarm clock. Seating area with dressing table and chair, large wardrobe with mirrored door, chest of drawers and tea and coffee making facilities. There are also a selection of books and various small tables plus extra lamps and CD player. Raised door step to large bathroom with shower over bath with folding shower door, mains hot water and anti slip mat. Loo on raised platform plus large wash stand, large basin with mixer taps, mirror, light, hair dryer and shaver point. Old uneven boards with large rug and wicker chair with cushion. 

Main Room is fully carpeted and furnishing coordinated with mostly antique furniture and large restful original paintings by local artist.

Grove view

Large double en suite room 15’ by 17’ with separate seating area suitable for extra bed available if required. Small step to fully carpeted area with dividing open oak stud wall. First area with shower room off is seating area with tea and coffee making facilities and small table with lamp with raised step through to second area with low level large double oak bed with canopy, side tables with lamps, radio alarm clock plus wardrobe with large mirror and chest of drawers with mirror.

Shower room with fully fitted tiling floor, corner opening shower, mains hot water, heated towel rail, hair dryer, loo, and large basin with mirror and shaver point.

Room has coordinating furnishings and mixture of modern oak and antique furniture and old black and white framed photos.

Park View

Double en suite room 15’ by 12’ fully carpeted and tiled with large pine bed with canopy, small antique pine wardrobe, large chest of drawers, two wicker seats with cushions, marble topped side tables with lamps and radio alarm clock and tea and coffee making facilities.

Door to separate loo with hand wash sink and 13th century wall paintings and door to separate bathroom with shower over bath folding shower door, large basin with mirror and light with shaver point, mains hot water, wicker chair with cushion, heated towel rail and large wash stand.

Room had coordinating furnishings mixture and antique and modern furniture and restful original artwork by local artist.

Heating

The house has central heating with individual thermostats on radiators in all rooms extra portable heaters/blankets available. The house dates from 1270 so its bit quirky with different levels, steps in odd places and uneven floors and the odd draft on windy winter night.

Fire Alarms and Insurance

The house has smoke detectors and emergency lighting on the landings and in corridors a fire extinguisher is situated on the first floor landing at the top of the stairs.

The dining area has full fire alarm, emergency lighting and fully lit exit signs and fire extinguishers. We have full public liability insurance and fire risk assessment.

Fire safety and alarm procedures are posted on the back of bedroom doors. Please ask if you have concerns about these procedures.

Dinning areas

Breakfast and evening meals are served in our award wining barn conversion a short level walk across the lawn and down two steps across a patio from the hall umbrellas are available by the from door in needed. We have fully fitted commercial kitchen, bar, dinning room, loos and outside eating areas fitted to high standard and complying with all health/safety and fire regulations specifications. Non house guests can join you for meals by prior arrangement.   In the event of very bad weather the small dining room in the hall is used.

Grounds

Surrounding the house are various lawns, seating areas and gardens which you are welcome to use, they are all as you would expect a little uneven in places.

If a wedding is taking place in the barn house guests are restricted to the gardens and seating areas around the hall. Our farm extends to 450 acres with many footpaths to explore you will find a map in your room pack.

Please note we do not allow children under the age of 14 years to stay in the Hall.
